Master Kang Instant Noodles Will Increase Prices: Mainland Chinese People Say “Everything Affordable Is Rising”

On May 16, the news of Kangshifu instant noodles raising prices hit the trending topics on Chinese social media platforms. People lamented that aside from the falling prices of unaffordable houses, prices are increasing for all other daily necessities.

The news appeared on social media platforms in China on the 16th, mentioning the upcoming price hike for all Kangshifu instant noodles products. According to “Food Industry Insiders,” a distributor in South China revealed that Kangshifu instant noodles are set to increase in price, with sales representatives from the manufacturer already giving verbal notices.

Another distributor from Northwest China stated that due to the rising costs of raw materials for instant noodles, the company will significantly adjust prices for Kangshifu bag noodles and cup noodles in May.

The report mentioned that the price hike for Kangshifu instant noodles this time will cover all product lines, with the reason being an “upgrade in formulation.”

“Sina Finance” contacted Kangshifu for confirmation, and their customer service stated that they have not received any related notifications.

“Red Star Capital Bureau” reported that a Kangshifu instant noodles agent in Southwest China, Mr. Wang (alias), mentioned that due to an upgrade in vegetable packs, manufacturers notified them in early May about the price increase of instant noodle products across all lines.

According to the report, Mr. Hu, a supermarket employee from Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, mentioned that around May 10th, sales representatives had already informed them about the price increase for all Kangshifu instant noodle products. The purchase price per bucket has increased by approximately 0.4 Chinese Yuan, and the price of each bucket of cupped instant noodles in the store has risen by 0.5 Chinese Yuan.

Netizens reacted to this news with varying opinions, expressing concerns about the increasing prices of daily necessities.

Vic Bean Cabbage: “Everything is getting more expensive now, but wages remain stagnant.”

Amber from Yangcheng Lake: “Expensive houses and cars lead to high consumption levels. While they keep falling in price, everyday consumer goods, beverages, water, electricity, and daily necessities are all getting more expensive. Isn’t that strange?”

Ing Mo Xiong: “Housing prices are dropping, but everything else is going up! Water and electricity fees are increasing, and now even common products like instant noodles are becoming more expensive.”

Ailing Sunny 8: “It’s true what they say – things we can’t afford are getting cheaper, while things we can afford are getting more expensive.”

Ancient Dirty Spirit, Bai Jingting: “From high-speed trains, water and electricity, to gold, and now instant noodles too. Wages are not rising but declining.”

Marsha Views the World: “It feels like nobody is seeing the key issue here. This price hike is already showing that all prices will gradually start rising.”

Zen Dreamweaver and Dream Maker: “Everything has become expensive, making it hard to afford things. The little money saved is just not enough, causing a lot of anxiety.”

Prior to this news, water, electricity, and gas prices in China had been increasing, along with higher train ticket fares. Analysts from the Chinese media suggested that with stagnant property sales and a lack of funds at the higher levels of government, everyone will have to bear the burden of financial expenditures together.
