Man in Shenyang Stabs and Kills 3, Injures 1

On July 4th, a stabbing incident occurred in the Tiexi District of Shenyang, Liaoning Province, resulting in 3 deaths and 1 injury.

According to the Shenyang Tiexi Police, in the afternoon of the 4th, a stabbing incident occurred in the Yangguang Huayuan residential area on Xinggong South Street in Tiexi District, resulting in 3 deaths and 1 injury.

The suspect Wang, who is 64 years old and has a history of mental illness, has been brought under control by the authorities.

Video footage from the scene shows a man wearing black shorts wielding a knife and attacking people within the residential area, causing multiple injuries and casualties.

One man in white was seen falling to the ground after being attacked, while two other victims were lying in pools of blood.

The announcement by the police that the perpetrator suffered from mental illness sparked discussions online:

“Can someone with an illness just take away others’ lives at will?”

“Every time something happens, it’s attributed to mental illness? If mentally ill individuals commit crimes, those responsible should be held accountable.”

“Mental illness should not be an excuse to absolve guilt, we can’t just overlook crimes by saying someone is ill in three simple words.”

Some netizens also expressed that in recent years, due to economic difficulties and high pressures, many people are burdened with debts and financial stress, which could lead to mental strain.

Shenyang has seen several cases of fatal stabbings in the past.

On April 24th, a man in Shenyang, Liaoning, stabbed another person on the street. Video footage showed the assailant approaching the victim from behind and stabbing them in the neck. However, the local authorities did not disclose the number of deaths or injuries.

On the afternoon of June 7th last year, a murder occurred at the Yaming Agricultural and Trade Market in the Huanggu District of Shenyang, resulting in 3 deaths and 1 injury according to local reports.
