Man Gets Attracted by Bright Colors After Trying Color-Blind Glasses for the First Time

47-year-old Kris Sipe has been color blind since birth. He recently decided to purchase a pair of special glasses, unsure of how effective they would be. In a video shared below, Kris is seen trying on the glasses at home and immediately being captivated by the vibrant colors in his living room.

“The first experience was overwhelming,” said Sipe, who works at Home Depot in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “I wasn’t sure if the glasses would work, so all these drastic changes happening just felt surreal to me.”

“It felt like a light turning on, illuminating everything.”

After marveling at the rich and colorful details around him, Sipe watched his favorite movie “The Wizard of Oz” and was astonished to see the horses in the Emerald City changing colors.

It was the first time he saw the color purple.

He explained how color blindness affected his perception: “With my usual vision, the best way to describe it is that objects appear a bit dim, and I can’t see the exact colors. To me, a green traffic light looks like a white light, and a rainbow is just a yellow line.”

Sipe has had this condition since birth, but his parents only realized the issue when he couldn’t match colors in kindergarten.

Although Sipe bought the glasses back in 2021, he doesn’t wear them all the time. He puts them on when he wants to fully experience the colors around him.

“Seeing these vibrant colors all the time can be overwhelming. But if I know something is particularly colorful, I’ll put the glasses on to see it.”

Today, Sipe remains amazed by the simple things he encounters in his daily life. For instance, the most beautiful thing he’s seen is a yellow fire hydrant. “It’s so bright and full of life,” he said.

“I never knew how bright and blue the sky was, but now I take the time to look at it.”
