Man Falls Down Steep Slope and is Seriously Injured, Loyal Dog’s Unusual Behavior Summons Rescuers.

This month, at the beginning of August, a man in Pennsylvania, USA, was walking his dog along a woodland path when he accidentally fell from a 6-meter high hill and sustained serious injuries that left him unable to free himself. His loyal Golden Retriever companion refused to leave his side, anxiously pacing back and forth on the hillside. This unusual behavior caught the attention of rescuers and ultimately led to the man being successfully rescued.

According to a post on Facebook by the Ross/West View EMSA, on the morning of August 1st, a male dog owner in Ross Township, Pennsylvania, was walking with his dog in the nearby hilly area when he fell from a steep hill, severely injuring his hip and unable to get up.

The Golden Retriever, witnessing his owner in distress, frantically wandered in the deserted forest. Fortunately, the alert residents nearby noticed this unusual behavior of the dog and quickly approached to investigate. They heard the cries for help from the owner at the bottom of the slope and immediately dialed 911.

The Ross/West View EMSA informed The Epoch Times that around noon that day, they called the emergency services of Allegheny County to report the serious injuries of the fallen man.

Police from Ross Township arrived first at the scene, followed by an ambulance. Due to the complex terrain of the location, the rescue operation faced significant challenges. Subsequently, an emergency team, firefighters, and public works crew also arrived and collectively launched a challenging rescue mission.

From the photos taken at the scene, rescue personnel quickly set up a high-angle rope system and carefully positioned the man on a stretcher before slowly pulling him to safety. He was then urgently transported to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

“He suffered severe damage to his hip, with a dislocated left hip joint, rendering him immobile and unable to self-rescue,” Greg Porter, director of Ross/West View EMSA, told reporters. “He fell from about 20 feet (approximately 6 meters) high on the hillside.”

The department wrote in their post that despite the rescuers’ best efforts to save the trapped man, the Golden Retriever “refused to leave the scene throughout.”

Porter stated that the man was able to be rescued successfully, thanks in large part to his pet dog. The Golden Retriever played a crucial role, as “the dog stayed on the hillside, pacing back and forth, attracting the attention of nearby residents.”

Recalling the scene, Porter mentioned that when the paramedics arrived, they saw a neighbor holding onto the dog, but it remained by the man’s side until it was assured that the owner was rescued and receiving medical attention before obediently being taken away from the scene by another neighbor. He added that the man was discharged the next day and reunited with his beloved dog immediately.

The rescue team concluded their post by expressing special gratitude to the loyal and faithful dog for its unwavering support.
