Man driving car falls into ravine, beloved dog runs wild in the wilderness for several kilometers to get help.

In early June, a man from Oregon, USA, set off on a journey with his four dogs, planning to meet up with his family at a camping site in a mountainous area. However, along the way, he accidentally drove off a cliff, sustaining serious injuries that left him unable to free himself. Little did he know, one of his dogs, displaying remarkable intuition, ran six kilometers to the family’s campsite to seek help, ultimately leading to the successful rescue of the stranded owner.

According to a statement from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon, 62-year-old Brandon Garrett was driving alone with his four dogs on June 2nd, heading to a rural camping site in Baker County to reunite with his family, who were enjoying outdoor activities.

As he drove north along U.S. Forest Service Road 39, he failed to notice a curve in the road, crashing into a embankment and tumbling into a gorge with his vehicle flipping over on the riverbed.

Fortunately, Brandon survived the accident and managed to crawl out of the overturned vehicle. However, due to his severe injuries, he found himself unable to climb up the steep cliff to seek help from passersby. With no other option, he exerted all his strength to crawl about 100 yards into a thicket, waiting for rescue.

In a desperate moment, one of his dogs named “Blue” seemed to understand his owner’s intended destination. Enduring pain, Blue ran nearly four miles in the remote wilderness and successfully found the family’s campsite.

Brandon’s failure to arrive at the campsite at the agreed time initially raised concerns among his family. The appearance of the dog alone confirmed that Brandon was in trouble, prompting them to immediately set out to track his whereabouts.

Around 9:30 a.m. the following day, the family finally discovered Brandon’s pickup truck in a steep, bushy ravine. Due to the complex terrain, they were unable to descend directly to the creek for rescue and had to call for help.

A team consisting of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Baker County Search and Rescue, Pine Valley Rural Fire District, and ambulance rushed to the scene.

As Sheriff Ash searched for a way to approach the creek, he suddenly heard Brandon’s calls for help. Following the sound, he quickly located the injured Brandon, providing first aid treatment. Meanwhile, the rescue team used a chainsaw to create a path for rescue.

After concerted efforts, the rescue team successfully pulled Brandon out of the valley using high-angle ropes and stretcher baskets, airlifting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Authorities confirmed that Brandon’s four dogs were unharmed in the accident and received prompt care and treatment. After the details of the incident were shared on Facebook by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, local communities and even netizens from other areas applauded Blue’s courageous and smart actions.

Recently, Brandon’s brother, Tyree Garrett, spoke to the Epoch Times by phone, providing an update on his brother’s condition. He mentioned, “He’s doing alright now. I mean, he was pretty seriously injured, so it will take some time for him to fully recover, but he’ll be alright soon.”
