Man arrested for setting fire in restroom of North Carolina court

On Tuesday, October 22, a fire was set in the restroom of the Forsyth County Courthouse in North Carolina, USA. The suspect has been arrested and will face two serious charges.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a fire broke out in the men’s restroom of the courthouse. Staff quickly identified the point of ignition and extinguished the fire before it caused significant damage.

The fire department rushed to the scene. As a precautionary measure, all personnel in the courthouse were evacuated. No one was seriously injured, but one person was taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The suspect is identified as 27-year-old Treymale De’Angelo Harrison, a resident of Winston-Salem. Harrison has been detained by the police and charged with two felonies: burning a specific public building and burning personal property.

Harrison was granted bail of $35,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Henry C. Gray, Jr., Deputy Director of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, expressed his regret saying, “It is truly unfortunate that such an event occurred within a building where staff are working for justice and public safety. We are grateful that no one was seriously hurt.”
