Malaysian Magician Sets World Record with 17 Magic Tricks Performances in 3 Minutes

Malaysian renowned magician Avery Chin broke the Guinness World Record for the most stage magic tricks performed in 3 minutes by showcasing 17 sets of magic tricks within the allotted time frame. The previous record holder was Indian magician Alwin, who performed 11 sets of magic tricks in 3 minutes back in 2023.

According to the Guinness World Records website, Avery Chin achieved this new world record on July 2 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Guinness World Records Facebook page shared the video of Chin breaking the record, displaying his incredible skill and dexterity in performing a variety of illusions within the time limit.

In the video, Avery Chin presented an array of magic tricks, including pulling a red scarf from an empty metal tube, creating a polka dot pattern on a black silk scarf, and executing intricate exchanges with oversized playing cards. The grand finale of his performance was producing the Malaysian flag, leaving the audience in awe of his magical talents.

Chin expressed to Guinness World Records his passion for magic and the dedication it took to elevate his craft to the highest level through breaking world records. He emphasized that setting a world record demanded a different level of precision and agility compared to regular stage performances, requiring a flawless execution of magic tricks within strict time constraints.

The magician highlighted the importance of adhering to the guidelines set by Guinness World Records throughout the challenge, showcasing his respect for the art of magic and his commitment to delivering awe-inspiring entertainment to audiences worldwide.

Regarding his successful record-breaking attempt, Avery Chin explained to the Malaysian media outlet “China Press” that each magic effect and routine had to undergo scrutiny by the International Magic Committee and Guinness World Records for approval. Any discrepancies or similarities to existing magic effects or props would disqualify the challenge.

Avery Chin’s list of Guinness World Records achievements includes a record set with his wife, Lin Cuiwei, for the most number of costume changes in a minute. The couple broke this record in September 2017 in Penang, Malaysia, by changing outfits 24 times within one minute, averaging a costume change every 2.5 seconds.

The Guinness World Records guidelines stipulated that each outfit worn during the change must be completely different with no evidence of the previous attire left behind. Thus, Lin Cuiwei managed to showcase 24 unique outfits without revealing any of the previous clothing worn during the rapid succession of changes.

Avery Chin and Lin Cuiwei’s magical feats have captivated audiences and set new standards for innovation and creativity in the world of magic, leaving a lasting impression on spectators and peers alike. Their dedication to pushing the boundaries of magic and achieving extraordinary milestones continues to inspire aspiring magicians and entertain enthusiasts globally.
