Malaysian Concert: 林俊逸 (Lin Junyi) Recreates Classic Show of Impersonating Fei Yuqing

Last night (28th), Lin Junyi, who has just been nominated for the Best Taiwanese Male Singer at the Golden Melody Awards, performed at the Yun Xing Theater in the Genting Highlands Resort in Malaysia, attracting nearly 4,000 fans. To commemorate this occasion, Lin Junyi designed an imitation show to pay tribute to the legendary singer Fei Yuqing.

Lin Junyi’s imitation of Fei Yuqing’s voice and mannerisms was remarkably accurate. Since The King of Mask Singer, there have been few occasions where Lin Junyi performed a full imitation show of Fei Yuqing. This time, catering to the Southeast Asian audience’s love for Fei Yuqing’s songs, he specially designed a classic concert to pay tribute to the “Little Brother”, performing popular songs like “Changing Colors of the Great Wall,” “Coolies,” and “A Spray of Plum Blossoms,” allowing the audience to relive the atmosphere of the 1970s.

Lin Junyi outlined the three key points of imitating Fei Yuqing: “lift the head, raise the hands, and perk up the buttocks,” jokingly saying, “Do you have to stick your butt out to be famous? Like Tan Xiaoyun, Fei Yuqing, and of course, Lin Junyi!” He even demonstrated with “Tango of Love.”

In addition to singing Fei Yuqing’s classics, Lin Junyi also returned to his own identity, singing songs from his album “A Good Year,” for which he was nominated for the Best Taiwanese Male Singer at the Golden Melody Awards, including “Lilala,” “Companion,” and “A Good Year.” In the second half of the show, Lin Junyi led the audience through a time tunnel with the hit songs of the 1970s and 80s by the kings and queens of that era.

He greeted the audience in Cantonese, much to the surprise and delight of those who understood the language. During his performances of Leslie Cheung’s “Chase” and Anita Mui’s “Woman’s Flower,” the audience below spontaneously turned on their mobile phone flashlights, creating a sea of lights. Finally, with the encore of the Southeast Asian Chinese favorite “Only by Struggle Can One Win,” amidst the collective singing of the audience, he concluded the concert.

Currently, Lin Junyi is not only actively rehearsing for the new play “iTunes Out of Control” by the National Grand Theater, but also preparing for a show at the Sapphire Ballroom in the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center on August 4th. Having already lost 3 kilograms, he hopes to further tone his body to greet the Golden Melody Awards ceremony at the end of June.
