Recently, a female tourist from mainland China in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur airport was dissatisfied with the exit inspection process and violently pulled the headscarf of a female immigration officer, pushing her head against a counter pillar, resulting in injuries to the officer’s head and body. The female tourist has been arrested and will face multiple criminal investigations. She was charged in court on August 18th.
This incident occurred at 7:40 p.m. on August 13th at the first terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport. According to local media reports, when two adult mainland Chinese, accompanied by two children, were leaving the first terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport, immigration officers discovered that they had no entry records and referred them for further review by their supervisor.
During this process, the immigration officer asked the four mainland Chinese tourists to make way for other passengers. One of the female tourists became emotional, verbally abused the immigration officer, forcefully pulled her headscarf, and pushed the officer’s head against the counter pillar, causing the officer’s left eye to swell, and injuries to her head and body, resulting in pain and the need for hospital treatment.
The Airport Security Team (AVSEC) was called by the Immigration and Protection Bureau (AKPS) to the scene. The mainland Chinese woman still refused to cooperate and was eventually detained for investigation by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
Assistant Police Chief Abanikhan Za confirmed the incident in an interview with the Daily News, stating that the suspect would be escorted to the Sibu Court to face charges of causing injuries.
He mentioned that the police have recorded statements from five witnesses, including the injured female immigration officer. The investigation into the suspect’s entry records has been handed over to the Immigration Department.
The Malaysian Immigration and Protection Bureau stated firmly that they have a “zero tolerance” policy towards any violence, insults, and threats against law enforcement personnel, and urged authorities to take strict action against such behavior.
