The 40-year-old mainland Chinese singer Shen Ye, in a pre-written “obituary” before her passing, informed everyone that she had left this world on January 21. This news has shocked and saddened many of her fans.
Shen Ye had written her “obituary” in advance and set it as a temporary post on her social media circle to notify everyone: “I have already left this world in the early hours of the 21st, but please do not be sad.” She then comforted her friends by saying, “Leaving is not permanent farewell, forgetting is. It has been my honor to know all of you in this life. Wishing everyone a safe and smooth journey ahead.” Lastly, she mentioned the time and place of her farewell ceremony and who to contact if anyone wished to attend.
Sources close to her revealed that Shen Ye’s passing was related to her long-term battle with multiple aortic inflammation (arterial pulselessness). Since childhood, Shen Ye had suffered from headaches and had disclosed in interviews her diagnosis of multiple aortic inflammation, also known as “arterial pulselessness,” which is a rare autoimmune disease. Due to a late diagnosis, severe blockages in the neck arteries and upper limb arteries led to frequent headaches and fainting episodes.
Public records show that Shen Ye, who had appeared multiple times on CCTV singing performances, was known for songs like “Butterfly,” “Long Time No See,” “As Long as You Are By My Side,” and “Flying Insects.” Apart from being a singer, Shen Ye was also a percussion musician skilled in various instruments.
Shen Ye was last seen in public in September of last year when she shared a photo with her mother, comparing their striking resemblance and calling themselves “sisters.” In the photo, Shen Ye looked beautiful and appeared to be in her twenties, while her mother looked remarkably youthful. Little did they know that it would be their final photo together, leaving people with deep sorrow.
Musician Bi Zhili, who had participated in talent show “Star Avenue,” expressed his shock on Weibo when he shared Shen Ye’s “obituary” on the 21st, saying, “Oh my, this is too sudden. Life is so unpredictable. I can’t believe she left at such a young age, she was not even 41!”
