Mainland China Restaurant Employee Fired for Joking about Huachenyu’s Negative Nickname

Recently, 34-year-old mainland Chinese singer Hua Chenyu held a concert tour, with passionate fans and various local businesses displaying promotional posters. Unexpectedly, it was reported that a restaurant employee was dismissed by the company after casually using a negative nickname for Hua Chenyu upon seeing the poster, sparking controversy.

Hua Chenyu, who is currently touring various cities in mainland China, collaborates with local businesses near the concert venues to display promotional posters. A fan of Hua Chenyu complained that on the 23rd, when dining at a restaurant where the collaboration was made, she noticed that the promotional stand for Hua Chenyu was placed near the kitchen with only half of it visible. She inquired about the reason, and the staff explained that it was temporarily moved due to receiving goods and would be placed back once the process was completed.

Subsequently, the staff relocated the poster to a prominent position near the restaurant entrance, and the fans expressed understanding. However, at this moment, an employee named Chen blurted out a negative nickname “Master” for Hua Chenyu upon seeing the poster, causing the fans of Hua Chenyu to react negatively by questioning the employee’s behavior and leaving the restaurant in anger.

This incident spread within the fan community, leading to numerous complaints against the employee and threats to boycott the restaurant, sparking discussions.

On the 24th, the restaurant’s parent company issued a statement on Weibo, stating that the employee named Chen had “seriously violated the company’s regulations and corporate cultural principles,” resulting in his dismissal. The restaurant manager was also penalized with a deduction of one month’s performance-based salary and a prohibition on promotion for one year due to managerial negligence. The company also issued apologies to Hua Chenyu, his fans, and other customers.

In fact, Hua Chenyu, affectionately nicknamed “Huahua” by fans, has been playfully called “Master” by netizens in the past due to his dynamic stage performances and intense emotions. Upon learning about this nickname, he initially thought of it as a joke, but later humorously accepted it, explaining, “I aspire to be a music magician.”
