Mainland Affairs Council: CPC Confuses Identification of Cross-Strait Identities with Intention to Eliminate the Republic of China

The Mainland Affairs Council Chairman of the Republic of China, Chiu Chui-cheng, pointed out that the Chinese Communist Party has been continuously rolling out “Taiwan integration measures” in recent years, attempting to eliminate the Republic of China by confusing the identification of people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and creating an illusion of exercising jurisdiction over Taiwan.

Renowned anti-communist internet sensation “Bajiong” and creative singer “Minnan Wolf” Chen Baiyuan, who once served as a model for CCP’s united front work, produced the “China United Front Documentary,” exposing how the CCP lures Taiwanese people to apply for Chinese identity cards through subsidies and access to loans, with intermediaries claiming that tens of thousands of Taiwanese now hold PRC identity cards.

The Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of China recently stated that it has confirmed that some nationals hold “Resident Identity Cards of the People’s Republic of China” or “Residence Booklets,” and will send official letters to the competent authority, the Ministry of the Interior, for further investigation according to law, and will expand the scrutiny.

Chiu Chui-cheng explained today (12th) that the government’s advocacy and investigation of public officials not having Mainland Chinese status and documents are to comply with legal provisions. Public officials have the responsibility and obligation to cooperate with enforcement. According to the “Cross-Strait Relations Act,” if a national obtains Mainland Chinese status, according to the law, they must cancel their Taiwan status, and thus lose the qualification to serve as a military or civil servant.

Chiu emphasized that the government has discovered that indeed there are individuals within the public service system who hold CCP identity cards. To ensure national and public service system security, the government is conducting a thorough investigation to ensure all agencies and schools confirm that current employees comply with employment regulations. Advocacy and investigation are the government’s responsibilities in accordance with the law.

He stressed that if applying for relevant identity documents from the CCP, one must swear allegiance to the People’s Republic of China. Military and civil servants holding CCP identity documents have violated loyalty obligations stipulated in laws including the “Public Servants Appointment Act” and “Regulations on the Appointment of Education Personnel.”

“The Government of the Republic of China and Taiwanese society absolutely do not allow current military and civil servants to violate laws and government policies by aiding CCP’s efforts to diminish Taiwan’s influence through united front actions,” Chiu Chui-cheng said.

In addition, he stated that the government’s approach of “advocacy” and “investigation” through a “commitment” method minimally impacts the parties involved and has the lowest implementation cost, allowing all military and civil servants to self-declare their loyalty to the nation and provide a reassuring confirmation for the people. Loyalty to the country is a responsibility of every citizen, and the duty to abide by the law knows no distinction between individuals. The government insists on doing the right thing, being loyal to protect the country, so that all citizens can be at ease.

Chiu Chui-cheng stated, “The latest public opinion survey by the Mainland Affairs Council shows that over 70% of the public supports the government’s investigation and advocacy work. We especially thank the vast majority of current military and civil servants for highly cooperating with the national policies and living up to the trust of the people.”

Furthermore, the Taiwan Investigation Bureau previously urged nationals to be vigilant, recognizing that the CCP is gradually attracting and confusing the sovereignty and identity consciousness of the people through means such as “traveling to China for tours,” “hospitality upon arrival,” “obtaining Taiwan compatriot travel permits and residence permits for ease of living and doing business in China.” It is essential to fully defend national security, ensure that Taiwan’s free and democratic land is not encroached upon by hostile forces, and protect the biggest interests of the people.
