Mainland Actor Zhang Han’s 1.65 Million Shares Frozen, Previously Sued Multiple Times

At the age of 40, mainland Chinese actor Zhang Han, who caused controversy with his self-directed TV drama “Gentlemen of Dongba District” in 2022, has been facing a ban for the past three years. Despite ongoing attempts to make a comeback, he was recently embroiled in a construction contract dispute, resulting in a court order to freeze 1.65 million yuan of his equity.

On August 18, “Actor Zhang Han’s 1.65 million shares frozen” became a hot topic. According to “Tianyancha,” Zhang Han, who has not released any new works in the past three years, had his shares in “Zhejiang Dongyang-Hua Kaitian Entertainment Co., Ltd.” frozen by the court, with a freezing amount of up to 1.65 million yuan and a duration of three years.

Information indicated that “Zhejiang Dongyang-Hua Kaitian Entertainment Co., Ltd.” was established in April 2016 with a registered capital of 10 million yuan. Zhang Wengao serves as the legal representative, while Zhang Han is the major shareholder with a stake of 99%. The company’s main businesses include providing network digital technology services for film and television, organizing cultural events, and artist management.

In response to the equity freeze incident, Zhang Han’s studio issued a statement on August 18, stating that between 2023 and 2024, the studio signed contracts with multiple construction companies. The statement emphasized that the studio has always upheld the spirit of the contracts and strictly fulfilled its obligations, responding friendly and handling various demands from the collaborators. However, disputes arose regarding service terms and quality.

The case has now entered the judicial process. Reports suggest that Zhang Han will face court hearings on September 11 and October 13 this year regarding two construction contract disputes. This is not the only recent legal dispute for Zhang Han, as he was also involved in a bankruptcy liquidation case of the “Shao Ben Shao” (Shanghai) catering company in late July, related to the recovery of unpaid capital contributions. Zhang Han’s side stated that he legally withdrew his shares in April 2023 and had fulfilled all relevant investment obligations.

Graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, Zhang Han rose to fame in 2009 with the youth campus drama “Meteor Shower” playing the role of “Murong Yunhai.” He then appeared in multiple series such as “Falling in Love with a Rival” “Cost of a Beauty” “The Longest Day in Chang’an” and “Boss & Me.” Since his debut, Zhang Han has seemingly attracted controversy, becoming a focal point of public attention from time to time.
