Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau reported that a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck at 9:11 p.m. local time on the evening of August 27. The quake’s epicenter was located 22.1 kilometers northeast of the Yilan County government, off the coast of Yilan County, with a depth of 112 kilometers.
Areas experiencing seismic intensity level 4 or higher include Yilan County and Taipei City.
Regions with seismic intensity level 3 or higher: New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hualien County, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Nantou County.
Areas with seismic intensity level 2 or higher: Keelung City, Hsinchu City, Taichung City, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Taitung County, Chiayi City, and Tainan City.
Kaohsiung City reported seismic intensity of level 1 or higher.
In response to the earthquake, the Central Weather Bureau issued a nationwide warning for Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Keelung City, and Yilan County.
