Los Angeles Welcomes Double Ten with Enthusiasm – Yeh Huan and Xu Meng, Cross-Generation Collaboration

Southern California cities reached temperatures as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of overseas Chinese celebrating the Double Tenth National Day. On September 7th (Saturday), nearly 500 people gathered at the Los Angeles Overseas Chinese Cultural and Educational Services Center to enjoy the “Brilliant Double Tenth National Day Variety Feast Concert”.

The lineup featured performers from different generations, including artists from Taiwan such as Ye Huan, Xu Meng, Yu Taiyan, Wang Ruiyu, as well as the band “Misty Forest” with Song Yujin and Fen Lan performing in Los Angeles. Ye Huan brought the classic Taiwanese song “Moonlit Night Sorrow” to the audience, wishing everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival. Before her performance, she expressed that this was her first time performing abroad after the pandemic, feeling both excited and nervous, and looking forward to delivering a wonderful show for the overseas Chinese community.

Director Jin Yao from the Bureau of Cultural Affairs was also invited to participate in the concert. His interaction with Wang Ruiyu received a thunderous applause from the audience. Chen Minyong, the director of the Los Angeles Overseas Chinese Center, indicated that despite the hot weather, the atmosphere of celebrating the Republic of China’s National Day in Los Angeles was heated up, thanking the strong support from all walks of life that made this year’s event even more successful. Last year, many National Day celebration events in the Republic of China were affected by the pandemic and could not be held on time. However, this year, as many as 17 activities have been unfolded in succession, urging Taiwanese compatriots to actively participate.

The singers were delighted to be in Los Angeles celebrating the Double Tenth Festival with the overseas Chinese. Yu Taiyan performed “Read You” and “I’m Willing”, hoping to evoke happy and beautiful memories among compatriots through music.

Wang Ruiyu also mentioned that the team gathered for this performance consisted of musicians from different generations, offering a diverse program that catered to the preferences of audiences of all ages. The National Day performance stirred up emotions of the audience about the past and the present, allowing them to appreciate the changes of the times.

Participants of all ages and backgrounds on that day, through music, felt joy and resonance. Prizes for the lucky draw included round-trip tickets from Los Angeles to Taipei sponsored by China Airlines, bringing even more surprises to the audience.
