Los Angeles Chinese rally protests Chinese Communist Party’s suppression of freedom of speech.

On October 5th (Sunday), dozens of Chinese residents in the greater Los Angeles area gathered in front of the Chinese consulate to protest against the cyber tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), condemning its long-standing internet censorship system, exposing and resisting the CCP’s lies, and voicing support for the silenced Chinese people.

The event coincided with the eve of the upcoming Fourth Plenary Session of the CCP in late October. The CCP’s Cyberspace Administration recently launched a new wave of internet crackdown under the guise of a so-called “clean-up operation,” conducting mass scrutiny of social media and individual accounts, further depriving people of their right to expression, demonstrating the increasingly stringent control of public discourse by the CCP regime.

At the scene, protesters raised banners and flags, shouting slogans such as “Down with the regime of lies, overthrow the red tyranny!” and “Restore freedom of speech, reject cyber tyranny!” Several protesters spoke out against the CCP regime’s all-encompassing blockade of Chinese people’s thoughts and speech under the pretense of “purifying the internet,” causing truth and rationality to gradually disappear behind the information firewall.

The host, Yi Yong, stated that the CCP even regards the most common feelings of sadness, confusion, and sighs among young people as threats and forcibly silences them. This is a violation of freedom of speech and an insult to human dignity. He believes that what truly needs to be eradicated is not people’s emotions but the regime that relies on lies and violence to survive. Only when the CCP disintegrates can the Chinese people truly embrace freedom and hope.

Yang Yang, a member of the Chinese Democratic Party and the organizer of the event, spoke, emphasizing that the gathering aimed to reveal an increasingly clear fact: the CCP is a thoroughly evil organization that never allows people to have a voice, let alone different opinions. He expressed, “Since even the most basic freedom of speech is being stripped away, how can we expect it to willingly move towards democracy? The reality proves that the only way for the Chinese people to achieve democracy and freedom is to overthrow the CCP’s dictatorial rule.”

Sun Ye, Vice Chairman of the Los Angeles branch of the Chinese Democratic Party Western Division, delivered a speech, saying, “I may not agree with all the views of those like Zhang Xuefeng and Hu Chenfeng who have been banned and silenced by the ‘clean-up operation’ this time, but I firmly believe that everyone has the right to express their thoughts. A regime that cannot tolerate differing opinions is destined to become increasingly isolated. The significance of our event is to break the chains of the CCP’s authoritarian rule and bring back the truth to the people.”

The gathering was jointly organized by the United Headquarters of the Chinese Democratic Party Western Division and the Freedom Bell Democracy Foundation. ◇
