This past Thursday (August 21), some members of the China Democracy Party International Alliance visited a homeless shelter on 6th Street in downtown Los Angeles to deliver essential supplies to the homeless individuals, which was warmly welcomed by the recipients.
The supplies they brought included clean clothes, toothbrush kits, toiletries, water bottles, and more. As they unloaded the goods and set up tables, the homeless individuals automatically formed lines to receive the items, some even offering to help with carrying the supplies.
According to the initiator of the charity event and member of the China Democracy Party International Alliance, Jia Huigang, once the supplies were brought out, they were quickly taken by those in need. He expressed, “At that moment, I deeply felt that although such activities are simple, they can truly bring warmth and practical help to others. Being able to physically help more friends in need fills me with joy.”
Jia Huigang and his family have experienced persecution under the brutal rule of the Chinese Communist Party in China. He believes that being able to settle and thrive in the land of freedom in the United States is a blessing from a higher power. “The United States has accepted us, allowing us to breathe freely and live with dignity,” he said. “Therefore, we should give back to this country through concrete actions.”
Jie Lijian, the head of the China Democracy Party International Alliance, mentioned that the U.S. government provides asylum to Chinese people fleeing persecution by the CCP, enabling them to live with dignity and breathe freely. Therefore, he believes that Chinese immigrants should give back to society in various ways, integrate into the community, and show care and love to more friends.
He stated that they plan to organize more charitable activities in the future and hope to see more Chinese people participate in such initiatives.
One of the volunteers at the charity event, Deng Saibo, mentioned that when he was in mainland China, he could hardly see any hope. “Now that I am in the United States and given the opportunity to live here, I should also strive to be a beneficial member of society.”
Seeing that there are also many people in need of help in the U.S., he was deeply touched: “I hope to do my part and work together with everyone to spread love and compassion.”
