Lin Po-Hung’s youthful appearance revealed, unexpectedly becoming an actor due to a twist of fate.

TaiwanPlus original documentary short film “The Pursuit of A Cinematic Dream” released its first episode today, featuring actor Austin Lin as the protagonist. Lin, who is this year’s ambassador for the Taipei Film Festival and was nominated for Best Actor at the 60th Golden Horse Awards last year, made his debut in an all-English interview in this episode. He emotionally expressed, “I love cinema, and I hope I can do it for my whole life.”

In preparation for this 15-minute documentary, Lin revealed that he practiced speaking English continuously and felt a sense of nervousness similar to preparing for hosting the Golden Horse Awards. He recalled his journey from being unexpectedly discovered by director Fu Tianyu as a singing contestant to embarking on the path of acting in the film industry. Lin shared about his first scene where he had to cry and the moment he began to see himself as an actor.

When asked about his feelings on shooting his first English documentary, Lin admitted to feeling the pressure but expressed his willingness to challenge himself and organize his thoughts from an English perspective through the interview. To articulate his thoughts accurately in English, Lin consulted with the production team repeatedly, meticulously selecting his words to ensure a natural delivery closer to his own voice.

“The Pursuit of A Cinematic Dream” reflects on Lin’s significant milestones over his decade-long career, including his youthful appearance in his first singing competition performance and captivating scenes as the male lead in the film “Take Me Far Away.” The documentary compiles highlight reels from over 20 films and 15 TV series Lin has been a part of.

After watching the film, Lin expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply moved. To have a documentary that comprehensively showcases my journey as a performer, I never realized I had experienced so much.”

Producer Gao Wei Hao shared the challenges encountered during the production process and expressed his sincere hope that “The Pursuit of A Cinematic Dream” series can serve as a prominent representation of Taiwanese filmmakers internationally. He aims to establish an international resonance through authentic storytelling and showcase Taiwan’s film style under the realm of free creativity.
