On December 9th, the collective child abuse case at the Pangjin Beicheng Kindergarten in Liaoning was brought to trial. According to the parents of the victims, the video footage of their daughter being beaten is just the tip of the iceberg in this abuse incident. Based on the evidence from the videos discovered so far, within 15 days, the teachers at the kindergarten physically abused the children over a thousand times.
Reported by mainland media outlets such as Red Star News and Dahe Daily, Mr. Meng, the father of the victimized child named Sisi, revealed before the trial that his daughter was diagnosed with mental disorders after the abuse and is currently undergoing treatment.
Mr. Meng stated that now whenever his child hears the words “kindergarten,” she starts crying and throwing tantrums. Whenever videos related to kindergartens are encountered, the parents immediately switch to other videos to prevent their child from being triggered.
According to the outpatient medical records at the Capital Medical University Affiliated Beijing Children’s Hospital, Sisi’s diagnosis indicates mental disorders. The child’s medical history includes frequent crying and refusal to go to kindergarten since October 2024, severe night-time crying from November to December 2024 lasting 5 to 6 hours sometimes, lack of communication, non-responsive to questions, frequent shouting, occasionally hitting the TV, prone to falling, and more.
Starting from October 2024, Mr. Meng and his wife noticed unexplained bruises on their child’s body. At that time, their daughter was less than three years old. On March 21st this year, Mrs. Li, Sisi’s mother, saw through the kindergarten’s surveillance cameras that her daughter was being physically abused by the teachers, including hitting her head against the wall, slapping her, and covering her head with a blanket, prompting her to call the police.
Subsequently, they examined more surveillance footage and discovered numerous instances of child abuse within 15 days, even witnessing a teacher laughing while another teacher abused a child.
Mr. Meng emphasized that the video footage of his daughter being beaten is just the tip of the iceberg. There are still many videos yet to be watched. Apart from the physical punishment mentioned above, they also observed a teacher directly eating from a bowl of food meant for the children, mixing the leftover food, and feeding it to other children. Some teachers even “sat” on boys.
The administrative penalty decision issued by the Panshan County Public Security Bureau provided by Mr. Meng reveals that four individuals involved in the kindergarten were administratively detained, with one person being transferred to criminal detention.
However, Mr. Meng is dissatisfied with the current handling of the situation. He expressed that the videos implicated up to 10 individuals, including the principal, teachers, and cooks, in the collective child abuse. He demands strict punishment for all kindergarten staff involved in abusing the children.
It is reported that the Beicheng Kindergarten, a privately-operated kindergarten, was shut down on May 15th this year, following the incident.
