Li Yixue Sent to Mental Hospital Again, Human Rights Lawyers Condemn Strongly

On January 4, the Chinese human rights lawyer group issued a statement strongly condemning the authorities in Nanchang for once again forcibly sending Li Yixue to a mental hospital.

Li Yixue, a girl from Jiangxi Province, was forcibly admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Jiangxi Province after accusing auxiliary police officers of attempting to rape her. After being discharged, Li Yixue exposed various shocking incidents within the psychiatric hospital. Subsequently, she was once again sent to a mental hospital by the authorities, sparking widespread attention from netizens. According to a video released by Li Yixue before her disappearance, the views on her video had already exceeded 1 billion.

According to reports from a human rights website, the Chinese human rights lawyer group raised several questions in their statement:

1. To which mental hospital was Li Yixue sent this time?
2. The authorities claim that sending her for examination was in accordance with the law, but which specific regulations were followed?
3. Defamation is a case of self-report. Why did the Kuai Zi Lane Police Station intervene in the dispute between Li Yixue and others?
4. What is the family’s attitude towards Li Yixue being sent for examination? Can a third party conduct an independent interview and publicly disclose the situation?

The statement mentioned that despite overwhelming public opinion support, Li Yixue was once again involuntarily locked up in a psychiatric hospital. The authorities are no longer targeting Li Yixue as an individual, but rather aiming at establishing the authority of violent agencies and violent regimes against public opinion and general sentiment.

The statement pointed out that despite the 1 billion views not saving Li Yixue, it led to her being forcibly sent to a mental hospital for the second time. Such tragic endings have occurred multiple times in recent years. In early 2022 and early 2023, national attention and billions of views failed to bring freedom to women in chains, nor did it force out the truth behind Hu Xinyu’s disappearance and death.

The statement criticized the authorities for labeling dissenters against their reactionary rule as “mentally ill” and subjecting them to arbitrary persecution in “psychiatric hospitals.” Their brutal methods are even more cruel than Hitler’s concentration camps and prisons!

The statement emphasized that injustice towards one person is a threat to everyone. Li Yixue’s future fate has become a landmark event in contemporary Chinese history. As long as the tyranny of the Chinese Communist Party persists, these tragedies happening to the Chinese people will not come to an end.
