Large school of fish leaps out of the water in Tai’an, Shandong, sparking various suspicions.

Recently, a large number of fish suddenly leaped out of the water near the Guli Bridge in Xintai City, Tai’an, Shandong Province, creating a spectacular scene. Many people speculated that this unusual phenomenon might be a precursor to an earthquake.

On the 21st, a video circulated online showed a large school of fish jumping out of the water near the Guli Bridge in Xintai City, Tai’an, Shandong Province. The water splashed, and the fish exhibited unusual excitement, continuously jumping. Many netizens suspected that this could be a sign of an impending earthquake. Some also believed that it might be directly caused by high temperatures and lack of rainfall, rather than a sign of an earthquake.

An article on the NetEase account “Exploration Diary” suggested that the fish might have been subjected to some strong stimulation to collectively exhibit such behavior and that it is quite rare for all the fish to act in unison.

Following the online attention drawn to this incident, on the 22nd, the Emergency Management Bureau of Xintai City issued a notice stating that the video was taken on the evening of June 20. The announcement debunked rumors, stating that no abnormal earthquake information has been monitored in Xintai City’s jurisdiction, and that talk of earthquake precursors is mere speculation.

However, netizens remain unconvinced.

“Some say that a great earthquake follows a severe drought, and it has come true. We cannot ignore the areas currently suffering from severe drought.” “If a real earthquake happens, who will take responsibility! This is just debunking rumors!” “So let’s take a screenshot now. If a real earthquake occurs, let’s see how they explain it.” “Even earthquakes must comply with ‘D-characteristics’ (party principles).” “Viruses must also adhere to ‘D-characteristics,’ not to mention earthquakes.”

Previously, abnormal incidents in Xinjiang raised suspicions of being earthquake precursors. Local authorities quickly debunked the rumors, but were soon refuted.

On April 10th of this year, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck Xinjiang. Prior to the earthquake, a large number of black insects appeared in the 143rd Regiment of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, leading the public to question if this was a precursor to the earthquake. The officials in Shihezi City invited experts to debunk the rumors. However, the debunking was quickly refuted.
