In Jilin Changchun on Monday (September 2), a major incident involving the killing of a police officer and gun snatching has been reported, prompting a large deployment of armed police forces by the authorities and sniper set-ups at various locations, with bystanders watching the unfolding events. Recently, there have been frequent cases of murders and attacks in China, leading analysts to believe that this is a reflection of social unrest under the violent rule of the Chinese Communist Party.
Several video clips circulating online, taken from different angles and locations, show a significant presence of special police, armed police, and riot vehicles heading towards the scene at Wanda Vista in the Hongqi Street area of Changchun, where snipers were positioned on high-rise buildings and on the ground, leading to the area being sealed off and many civilians gathering to observe.
Some netizens posted videos on X platform claiming, “Big incident in Changchun! Reportedly, a police officer was killed, and the suspect took the gun!”
“On September 2, in Wanda Vista in the Hongqi Street area of Changchun, following a dispute between property owners and management, the police officer on scene was fatally stabbed by a male property owner with a knife. The man then seized the officer’s gun, fired it, and took two hostages.”
“Large numbers of special police and armed forces fully armed were rushed to the scene, with snipers positioned in multiple locations on high-rise buildings.”
Many netizens have provided accounts of the incident online.
New Tang Dynasty received screenshots of conversations provided by readers in China, mentioning that a property owner, aged around forty to fifty, in the Hongqi Street Jingcheng Nan Zhongdong Hongjie community had a dispute with the management, leading to the man entering the property with a knife. The conversation also indicated that the suspect was “in a normal state of mind” and “nicely dressed.”
Comments further stated: following the management’s alert, the police arrived at the scene, where a physical altercation ensued between the suspect and the officer. The suspect attempted to sever a major artery of the officer with the knife, seized the officer’s gun, fired three shots, shooting two officers, resulting in one death and one critical condition. The suspect then held a hostage at gunpoint in an underground parking garage, engaging in a two-hour standoff with the authorities. Upon hearing gunshots, it is speculated that the suspect likely met his demise.
However, the aforementioned information remains unverified.
In recent years, amidst China’s economic downturn, a sluggish real estate market, continuous layoffs and salary reductions by companies, a significant portion of the populace facing unemployment and financial difficulties. The hatred fostered by Communist indoctrination, coupled with these circumstances, has led to a surge in violent incidents, even massacres.
On August 28, a knife attack occurred at a night market in Gaomi City, Shandong Province. Two men engaged in an altercation, during which one of them brandished a large knife, leading to the death of the other on the spot.
On July 4, a indiscriminate knife attack took place in a residential complex in Xinghua South Street, Tiexi District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Videos circulating on X platform showed a bald man in gray clothing and shorts, holding a smoke in his left hand and a large curved knife in his right, indiscriminately slashing residents in the area before leaving, leaving several people lying in pools of blood.
On June 18, a tragic massacre occurred in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, where Niu Debiao (alias) and his family of five were brutally murdered, shocking the entire country. The perpetrator, Huo Wenchang, was captured after ten days on the run.
Based on social media reports, netizens calculated that from May 7 to July 4, there were over forty knife attacks in China, resulting in at least 55 deaths and 48 injuries.
Dum Wen, former Executive Director of the Legal Advisory Office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region government, expressed to Epoch Times in May this year, “In recent years, under the high-pressure rule of the Communist Party, along with economic downturn and unfair judiciary, the general populace lacks avenues for redress, leading to severe societal psychological strain and the emergence of various sinister incidents.”
“This phenomenon is termed ‘extreme behavior induced by social pressure’ or ‘violence induced by social pressure’ in social psychology,” according to Dum Wen, who believes that “the current issues in Chinese society are a direct manifestation of social unrest under Communist rule.”
