Recently, a major fire broke out under a high-speed railway bridge in Baolong Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, igniting more than 10 vehicles.
According to the emergency management bureau of Longgang District, on the afternoon of January 11th, a large fire broke out in a grassland in Baolong Street, Longgang District. It took nearly an hour to extinguish the blaze. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire in the grassland ignited some of the vehicles parked nearby.
After the incident, a cordon was set up around the scene, with many people going to the site to gather information. Some vehicle owners also arrived to inquire whether their vehicles had been destroyed by the fire.
Footage showed thick smoke billowing from the scene, with the smoke drifting up to the Xashen high-speed railway bridge overhead, occasionally accompanied by the sound of explosions.
According to reports from Mainland Chinese media outlets, the fire destroyed and affected more than a dozen vehicles, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Residents living near the incident site mentioned that they could smell a strong odor of fumes and gunpowder in their homes.
Regarding the cause of the fire, some residents mentioned that the area where the incident occurred has been filled with parked vehicles for a long time, including abandoned cars, with no one managing or collecting fees. Other residents disclosed that in the surrounding areas, there have been frequent instances of people setting off fireworks, and some vendors selling fireworks, which poses certain safety risks.

On the afternoon of January 5th, a house in Guanlin Road, Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou caught fire.
On the morning of January 4th, a market fire broke out at the Ligong Vegetable Market in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei, resulting in at least 8 deaths and 15 injuries.
On November 17, 2024, in a village in Xianyang, Shaanxi, a villager failed to turn off a “little sun” leading to a fire while sleeping, causing all household furniture to be destroyed by fire. On October 8, 2024, a fire broke out in a residential unit in Shunyi, Beijing because residents did not timely turn off the electric blanket in the bedroom, causing the fire.
