As Christmas approaches, major retail chain stores such as Walmart, Target, and Costco will be open on Christmas Eve (December 24th), but may close early, and will remain closed on Christmas Day.
On December 25th, Walmart’s stores across the United States will not be open for the full 24 hours, reopening on December 26th. One of the reasons Walmart chain stores are popular among residents is that they can almost meet all daily needs, including groceries, furniture, clothing, learning supplies, and entertainment products.
Walmart has a total of 4,593 stores in the U.S., including 509 in Texas, 341 in Florida, and 271 in California. In the past, Walmart used to operate 24 hours a day almost year-round, but now things have changed. Closing on holidays allows employees to spend time with their families and provides them with additional time off; it is also part of the company’s strategy to optimize the retail and e-commerce operations and focus on areas with high customer traffic.
Not only Walmart will be closed on Christmas Day, but Sam’s Club, T.J. Maxx, Target, Home Depot, and Lowe’s will also be closed, requiring residents to plan their shopping ahead of time.
Across the U.S., Sam’s Club has 601 stores, T.J. Maxx has 1,340 stores, Target has 1,966 stores, Home Depot has 2,021 stores, and Lowe’s has 1,759 stores.
Despite the physical stores being closed on holidays, customers can still shop online from these retailers’ websites. After the COVID-19 epidemic, more people are opting to shop online.
The warehouse-style retail chain store Costco is closed on seven major federal holidays, including New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The store also shortens its operating hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Costco has 634 stores nationwide, with as many as 143 in California. Customers can contact their local stores for precise details on operating hours.
