On May 11th, Liu Donggang, a student at Lanzhou Jiaotong University, has been missing for a month since leaving school on April 11th. It has been confirmed that Liu Donggang jumped into the Yellow River. This news has sparked heated discussions in the comment section. Upon learning of his disappearance, his family rushed from their hometown in Longxi County, Gansu Province, to Lanzhou to search for him. Especially his disabled mother, distributed flyers to passersby in search of her son, bringing tears to many netizens’ eyes.
According to Red Star News, Liu Donggang’s elder sister, Ms. Liu, stated that through the police’s retrieval of surveillance footage, they have traced her brother’s movements and now confirmed that he jumped into the Yellow River.
Ms. Liu had previously mentioned that on April 17th, she received a call from the school saying that they hadn’t seen Liu Donggang for several days. She immediately reported to the police and rushed to Lanzhou. Surveillance footage revealed that on the night of April 11th, Liu left the school, and at 8:44 pm, he went missing near the Yuantong Grand Bridge in Lanzhou. The surveillance showed a person strolling by the Yellow River in Lanzhou and falling into the water from the area near the Yuantong Grand Bridge, suspected to be Liu Donggang.
Ms. Liu stated that Liu Donggang was admitted to Lanzhou Jiaotong University, majoring in Computer Science and Technology at the School of Electronics and Information Engineering.
In the last two days, the family has been searching along the riverbanks 5 kilometers downstream from where the incident occurred. Ms. Liu said, “The Yellow River area is complex, and we hope to get help from rescue teams familiar with the Yellow River waters to bring back my brother as much as possible.”
At the age of 23, Liu Donggang is a fourth-year university student. Upon learning of their son’s disappearance, his parents also hurried to Lanzhou and distributed flyers on the streets searching for their son. Despite having a disability in her leg, Liu Donggang’s mother braved the scorching sun to distribute missing person flyers to passersby in hopes of finding her son.
After confirming that Liu Donggang had jumped into the Yellow River, the comments section exploded.
