Landslide in Huangshan Scenic Area traps many tourists with mudslides blocking the road

Recently, there was a landslide in the Yuping Trail of the Huangshan Scenic Area, with mudslides blocking the road and causing the downhill walking path to be impassable. Two out of the three downhill walking paths were temporarily closed, leading to severe congestion for tourists going up and down the mountain. Many visitors at the scene were forced to wait for hours.

In Anhui’s Huangshan, a serious congestion occurred, with a large number of tourists stranded on site. Officials responded, attributing the congestion to the landslide and mudslides that blocked the road.

On March 22, many netizens in Anhui Huangshan posted videos showing severe congestion on the downhill walking path of the Huangshan Scenic Area, forcing visitors to detour and queue for the downhill cable car, resulting in a significant increase in crowds at the cable car boarding point, with many tourists stranded for hours.

According to Hai Bao News on March 24, calls were made to the Huangshan Scenic Area tourism consultation hotline on the 23rd. Customer service stated that the main reason for the congestion was the closure of two out of the three downhill walking paths in the Huangshan Scenic Area, leading to a concentration of tourists going up and down the mountain. “The Yuping Trail has been closed because of falling rocks on the 18th, posing a safety hazard. The trail at the North Gate has also been closed due to ice. If tourists want to walk downhill, they can only choose the South Gate.”

On March 23, staff from the Huangshan Scenic Area Management Committee also confirmed that on March 22, there were indeed many tourists stranded. “The Yuping Trail had a landslide, with mudslides blocking the road, making the trail impassable and causing the cable car capacity in the Yuping direction to be unable to meet the demand of the crowd.”
