Ku Li-hsiung praises ALTIUS-600M drone, enhancing defense capabilities.

On November 19, 2025, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of China, Gu Li Xiong, pointed out that the installation of the ALTIUS-600M attack drone is in progress, symbolizing an important step taken by the military in constructing unmanned combat vehicles.

Minister Gu stated that in the future, the three branches of the military will continue to acquire various types of drones and concurrently develop training standards and operational doctrines towards the direction of “new training, new thinking, new equipment, and new technology” to enhance the overall defense and combat efficiency.

The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China released a press statement indicating that accompanied by relevant superiors, Minister Gu Li Xiong visited the Army Drone Training Center on the 18th to receive mission briefings. He also visited the “indoor flight training facility” and the “immersive classroom” to understand the equipment performance and training course design and modes for the trainee squads.

Subsequently, military personnel conducted exercises to shoot metal pellets with the ALTIUS-600M attack drone to showcase the progress made in installation. Minister Gu Li Xiong specially awarded bonuses to commend the hard work and effectiveness of the officials and soldiers in their training efforts.

Minister Gu affirmed the center’s implementation of training according to plan, progressively strengthening the operational skills of military personnel, as well as mission planning, tactical application, and combat power integration capabilities. He also expressed his expectation for continuous improvement in order to adapt to future combat scenarios.

Minister Gu mentioned that the ALTIUS-600M attack drone will continue to be allocated to combat units, and its effectiveness will be verified during combat training exercises. The combat experience in Ukraine demonstrates that even when facing manpower and resource disadvantages on the battlefield, extensive innovative use of unmanned vehicles can still leverage asymmetric combat advantages.

The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China stated that in the future, in response to threats posed by the enemy situation and defense operational needs, various types of drones will be successively acquired. Simultaneously, training standards and operational doctrines will be developed with the aim of swiftly establishing a strong and resilient deterrence combat capability to enhance the overall defense and combat efficiency of the military.
