Kris Wu sentenced to 3 years in prison, rumors surfaced that his mother wants to sell luxury car for cash

Canadian Chinese celebrity Kris Wu, who was arrested in 2021 on charges of rape and other crimes, was sentenced to 13 years in prison in the first trial and also faced deportation. Despite appealing the decision, the second trial upheld the original verdict. After serving three years in prison, it was recently rumored that his mother intends to sell his luxury car, shocking netizens.

According to car sale information posted by an intermediary on mainland Chinese websites, the vehicle in question is a BRABUS G800. Perhaps due to the term “Kris Wu” being banned on social media platforms in China, the intermediary simply referred to the car as “a certain Fan’s car, yes, that’s him,” albeit netizens understood it was about Kris Wu.

Some netizens commented asking, “Is Fan’s mom selling it?” to which the reply was understatedly affirmative, with the revelation that Kris’s mom intends to sell it for 6 million Chinese yuan.

According to Taiwanese media reports, the imported BRABUS G800 in Taiwan in 2020 started at a price of 15 million New Taiwan dollars, and only nine units were imported each year, quickly selling out. The car’s design is square and gives off a robust feeling in terms of appearance.

In response to queries about Kris Wu’s orange-colored BRABUS G800, the intermediary explained: “That car (Kris Wu) was driving in Vancouver is someone else’s car.”

As a top celebrity in China, Kris Wu was criminally detained and then arrested in 2021 for alleged rape, leading to a full ban on him across the internet. Not only did his entertainment work abruptly stop, but he also faced hefty compensation claims from brands he had endorsed. Following the first trial in November 2022, Kris Wu was sentenced to 13 years in prison and was set to be deported back to Canada upon completing his sentence.

After the first trial verdict, Kris Wu, who was already in prison, disagreed with the ruling and appealed to the Beijing Third Intermediate People’s Court. On July 25, 2023, the second trial took place behind closed doors without a public hearing, and it was announced that the court would announce the decision on a later date. It wasn’t until half a year later, on November 24, 2023, that the court confirmed the original verdict.

Kris Wu’s arrest triggered a comprehensive rectification and restructuring of the entertainment industry by the Chinese Communist Party regulatory authorities, which aimed to protect consumer interests.
