Kremlin: Putin to Meet Xi Jinping on May 8

The Kremlin revealed on May 6th (Tuesday) that Putin will meet with Xi Jinping on May 8th (Thursday). Additionally, Putin plans to visit China in early September.

According to the report by the Russian news agency Sputnik, the Russian President’s assistant Ushakov stated that President Putin will hold talks with the Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping on May 8th.

Ushakov disclosed to reporters that after the formal meeting, “the leaders of the two countries will address the media, then have a formal breakfast together, followed by tea and engage in frank dialogue face-to-face.”

Ushakov added, “During the tea session, both sides will discuss the most important and crucial issues in the two countries’ strategic cooperation, as well as touch upon the most delicate and sensitive matters.”

Ushakov pointed out that Xi Jinping will attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the great victory in the war.

He stated that this will be the third contact between the leaders of the two countries in 2025. Previously, in January, Putin and Xi Jinping held a video meeting; then on February 24, they had another phone conversation.

In addition, the Kremlin also revealed that Putin will visit China in early September.
