Korean star Park Bo-gum’s 31st birthday: Bao Qi Jing gives red envelopes to send blessings

On June 16th, South Korean star Park Bo-gum celebrated his 31st birthday. He shared a series of photos on Instagram, where he was joined by his co-stars Tang Wei and Hong Kong actress Paw Hee-ching (Sister Bo) from their upcoming movie “Wonderland,” along with director Kim Tae-yong to mark the occasion. Paw Hee-ching even presented a red envelope as a blessing.

Lately, Park Bo-gum has been busy promoting “Wonderland.” On the 16th, he posted a birthday celebration photo with Tang Wei, Paw Hee-ching, and himself on Instagram, captioned: “An enchanting realm filled with love, grateful to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!” From the photos, it’s clear to see Park Bo-gum embraced warmly by the 74-year-old Paw Hee-ching. She signed the red envelope to Park Bo-gum as “Auntie” and wrote a blessing: “Dear Bo-gum, wishing you a bright and brilliant future, happy birthday!” Tang Wei and her director husband, Kim Tae-yong, inscribed on the back of the framed picture given to Park Bo-gum in both Chinese and English: “May you be carefree!”

Paw Hee-ching, 74, won her first Hong Kong Film Awards for “Best Actress” in 2009 for the film “Claustrophobia” and also received the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards for “Best Actress.” This marks her first involvement in a South Korean film. From the photos, it’s evident that Paw Hee-ching enjoyed working with the young idol and even seems to have been influenced to create an Instagram account, kicking it off with a heartwarming snapshot with Park Bo-gum, whom she described as “my little idol friend.”

Tang Wei forged a bond with Paw Hee-ching 14 years ago when they co-starred in the Hong Kong film “Cross-Harbour Tunnel.” Despite belonging to different generations, the two leading actresses not only carried their friendship from on-screen to off-screen but also deepened it over time. It can be surmised that Tang Wei most likely recommended Paw Hee-ching for a role in the new movie “Wonderland” directed by Kim Tae-yong.
