Korean budget airline stewardess under investigation for opening emergency exit door to take photos on aircraft wing.

A budget airline in South Korea recently faced a delay with one of its flights, and to everyone’s surprise, a flight attendant on board opened the emergency exit door and even walked onto the wing to take photos. The airline has admitted that this incident did occur and has launched an investigation into the matter.

According to reports from Yonhap News Agency, on February 12th at noon, an Eastar Jet domestic flight was delayed due to heavy snow in Cheongju City, Chungcheongbuk-do, and was parked at Cheongju International Airport. The flight attendant on board unexpectedly opened the emergency exit door next to the wing and proceeded to take personal photos on the wing while waiting.

Cheongju City is located 112 kilometers south of the capital, Seoul. At the time of the incident, heavy snow affected flight operations at Cheongju International Airport, leading to a series of flight cancellations.

On February 14th, Eastar Jet confirmed that the flight attendant did indeed walk onto the wing to take photos and stated that they are investigating this inappropriate behavior.

An official from the airline explained that after discussions with maintenance staff, the decision was made to train flight attendants on how to use the emergency exit door during the waiting time. Under normal circumstances, the emergency exit door should not be opened casually.

The official emphasized that the flight attendants walking onto the wing to take photos was indeed inappropriate behavior. The company is conducting an investigation into the individuals involved and will take appropriate actions based on the investigation results.

Furthermore, the official mentioned that the airline plans to implement strict training measures for all departments’ employees to ensure that such incidents do not reoccur.

South Korea has recently experienced a series of airplane incidents, including Jeju Air’s fatal crash in December last year (the deadliest in South Korean history) and a fire on a Busan Air flight last month.

As a result, the incident involving Eastar Jet has garnered significant attention, highlighting the importance of safety and proper conduct in the aviation industry.
