On September 21, a memorial service for the conservative youth leader Charlie Kirk was held in Glendale, Arizona. President Trump, Vice President Pence, as well as members of the Trump administration attended and delivered speeches. The interview team from NTD and Epoch Times conducted on-site coverage and live broadcasting to report the situation and present the real reactions of the American people.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA, was tragically stabbed on September 10. The State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where the event took place, can accommodate 73,000 people, but the crowds outside were overwhelming with an uncountable number of attendees.
Prior to the memorial service, a large number of people camped outside the venue overnight to queue up. By 5 a.m. the next morning, the area around the stadium was packed with people, causing traffic congestion. Kirk’s followers from across the United States and even other countries came to pay their respects, staying outside the venue even without tickets to show their tribute.
The initial estimate by the authorities was 100,000 attendees, later increased to 200,000 people, with President Trump, Vice President Pence, and members of the White House cabinet all present and delivering speeches.
President Trump expressed, “We want faith back in America. We want God back.” Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow, in her speech, said that what Charlie desired most was not personal success, but to follow God’s will.
To provide viewers with a firsthand experience of the unforgettable scenes, NTD TV broadcasted the event live for 8 hours. Both Chinese and English anchors from NTD and Epoch Times reporters updated the coverage live from the scene.
At the invitation of the event organizers, the English NTD TV set up a separate interview area in the VIP section of the memorial service venue, with a temporary broadcasting studio. They interviewed over a dozen guests, including Arizona state senators, Kirk’s family and friends, and donors to Turning Point USA, collectively commemorating Kirk and expressing gratitude for his contributions to promoting traditional values.
The event was hosted by Steve Lance, host of NTD’s “Capital Watch,” and Tiffany Meier, host of “China in Focus.”
Many viewers watched the live news and interview programs and expressed their gratitude for the timely reporting by NTD and Epoch Times. Viewer Maharani Prasad commented, “Thanks to the excellent work of the Epoch Times team for documenting this special event for all of us.” Another viewer said, “Thanks to Tiffany and Epoch TV for their coverage of this memorial service!”
Some attendees interviewed on-site said, “Many thanks to Epoch Times and NTD for coming here, providing unfiltered real news for everyone, and helping us convey the authentic voices to the world.” They added, “We are all Kirk, and we will continue to spread traditional values. The world needs to return to tradition.”
Charlie Kirk was a significant leader and ideologue of the young conservative movement. The organization he founded, Turning Point USA, has grown into the largest and fastest-developing conservative youth organization in the United States. Following Kirk’s passing, rallies and vigils commemorating his memory were held in various countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, among others. At many of these events, people saw the presence of reporters from NTD and Epoch Times conducting on-site interviews.
