Jiangxi Provincial Civil Affairs Department Director Li Mingsheng Removed from Position

The head of the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangxi Province, Li Mingsheng, who had attended a meeting a week ago, is now under investigation during his tenure.

According to the Jiangxi Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision on April 8th, Li Mingsheng, the Party Secretary and Director of the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangxi Province, is suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision investigation.

Public records show that Li Mingsheng was born in August 1967 in Ningdu, Jiangxi. He started working in July 1989 and became a member of the Standing Committee of the Pingxiang Municipal Committee in August 2020, and two months later was appointed as the Executive Deputy Mayor. In February 2022, he became the Party Secretary of the Civil Affairs Department of Jiangxi Province, and in March, the Director of the Provincial Civil Affairs Department.

On March 20th of this year, Li Mingsheng attended the organizational meeting of his party branch for the year 2024.

Of note is that during Li Mingsheng’s tenure as a member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Mayor of Pingxiang from 2020 to 2022, there was overlapping work with Yang Jinsong, who was investigated in his post as the Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Pingxiang Municipal Committee on March 27th. Yang Jinsong was born in April 1970 in Pingxiang, Jiangxi. He started working in August 1990 and holds a bachelor’s degree from the Central Party School while studying in service.

This latest development adds to the ongoing scrutiny of public officials in Jiangxi Province, shedding light on potential systemic issues that need to be addressed to uphold accountability and integrity within government institutions.
