On June 21st, popular South Korean singer Kang Daniel announced that he will be hosting a mini fan meeting titled “KANGDANIEL MINI FANMEETING” on June 30th, inviting only 100 lucky fans to participate. This event marks his first activity since the closure of his entertainment company, KONNECT Entertainment, which recently faced issues related to misappropriation of funds.
In May of this year, KONNECT Entertainment revealed that the company had experienced embezzlement of more than 20 billion Korean won (approximately 5.178 million New Taiwan Dollars / 1.59 million US dollars) by a major shareholder. The shareholder had also signed a contract worth 10 billion Korean won (approximately 2.6 million New Taiwan Dollars / 769,000 US dollars) using Kang Daniel’s name without his consent. As a result, Kang Daniel filed criminal charges against the shareholder for forgery, corruption, embezzlement, invasion of privacy, and fraud. Following these events, artists and staff under the company left, leading to the closure of KONNECT Entertainment.
Through his official social media accounts, Kang Daniel announced the upcoming mini fan meeting, expressing his desire to spend some quality time chatting with fans, stating: “This is something I have been wanting to do for a while, even if it’s small, I want to spend time chatting with fans.”
The announcement on the official social media stated that the fan meeting is limited to members of Kang Daniel’s official fan club DANITY (third-term members) for registration due to venue constraints. Only 100 fans will be invited to participate, selected through a random draw.
Following KONNECT Entertainment’s closure, Kang Daniel had reassured fans saying, “DANITY (official fan club name) cares about me more than anyone else now! I will continue to be by everyone’s side as Kang Daniel. I will work hard to bring you good news as soon as possible, so don’t worry too much and make sure to eat well! Thank you, everyone.”
After the announcement of the mini fan meeting, fans flooded the comments section with messages like “Thank you for coming back so soon,” “Miss you so much,” and “Tears of happiness are flowing.”
