Ivanka Trump, the daughter of former US President Donald Trump, expressed heartfelt support for her father on Thursday, following his guilty verdict in New York. This marks her first public statement since the sentencing.
On Thursday evening, the former First Daughter took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of a young Donald Trump holding her as a child on his lap. Alongside the image, Ivanka added the words “I love you, Dad” and a heart emoji.
This brief yet affectionate message is the first public comment from the 42-year-old Ivanka since her father became the first former US president to be convicted.
In the verdict of the “hush money case” on Thursday, a jury in New York ruled in favor of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on all 34 felony charges brought against Trump, including top-level felonies such as falsifying business records.
Since her father’s exit from the White House, Ivanka, who previously served as a senior advisor alongside her husband Jared Kushner, has kept a relatively low profile. In 2022, she moved from Washington D.C. to Florida. Following Trump’s announcement to run for president in 2024, Ivanka hinted that she would not be involved in her father’s campaign. The mother of three children stated in a released statement, “I love my father very much,” but also indicated, “This time, I choose to prioritize my young children and the private life we are building as a family.”
“I do not intend to get involved in politics. Although I will always love and support my father, I will do so outside of the political stage in the future,” she wrote in the statement.
Throughout Trump’s seven-week trial for the “hush money case,” Ivanka did not make any public appearances. However, after her father faced a historic conviction, she publicly expressed support with just four English words.
On Tuesday, Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany Boulos (formerly Tiffany Trump), also arrived at the court to attend the closing arguments alongside her brothers Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. During the reading of the verdict on Thursday, both Donald Jr. and Eric were present in the courtroom.
Within hours of the verdict being announced, Donald Trump Jr. took to various social media platforms to post over twenty condemnatory messages regarding the trial outcome.
