IU Celebrates Birthday by Helping the Underprivileged Again, Total Donations Exceed 5 Billion Korean Won

South Korean popular singer and actress IU (Lee Ji-eun) has been donating money to help the underprivileged on various holidays, debut anniversaries, and during natural disasters over the years. This year, on her birthday on May 16th, she once again made a donation of 200 million Korean won to help the disadvantaged under the name “IUAENA.”

On the 16th, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, posted four donation certificates on social media. Under the combined name of her official fan club UAENA, “IUAENA,” IU made donations of 50 million Korean won each to Children Adolescents Shared Living Home (Group Home), Korean Society for Welfare of the Deaf, Love Snail, and Korea Unwed Mothers’ Families Association.

These four donations from IU will help marginalized children and adolescents, as well as young people preparing to become self-reliant, hearing-impaired individuals, and unmarried mothers among other social vulnerable groups.

EDAM Entertainment stated, “Just as UAENA has continued to show overflowing love this year, we hope everyone can have a warm day today.”

On Children’s Day in South Korea, celebrated on May 5th, IU donated 100 million Korean won to Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to help underprivileged children. The total known amount of donations she has made now exceeds 500 million Korean won.

In March of this year, IU started her world tour concert “2024 IU H.E.R. WORLD TOUR CONCERT” in Seoul, which was recently renamed to “IU H.E.R.E.H WORLD TOUR CONCERT.” She is scheduled to perform in Hong Kong on the 25th and 26th of this month.

This week, IU shared photos of her daily life on Instagram, including one where she is holding a guitar with an A4 paper sheet on the table containing lyrics. Sharp-eyed fans noticed that the lyrics on the paper were in Cantonese, raising anticipation for IU to perform that song at her concert.
