IU and Ahn Hyo-seop donate to help underprivileged children celebrate the holidays

May 5th is Children’s Day in South Korea, and popular Korean singer and actress IU, Ahn Hyo-seop, ATEEZ’s Hongjoong, and Ko Min-si (often mistranslated as Ko Min-shi) along with other celebrities have generously donated to help children who are unable to celebrate the holiday have a pleasant Children’s Day.

EDAM Entertainment uploaded on their official social media accounts on the 5th the news of a donation made by their artist IU, along with the donation certificate. According to the certificate, IU, under the combined name of her fan club and herself as “IUaena,” donated 100 million Korean won (approximately 2.38 million New Taiwan dollars / 74,000 US dollars) to the ChildFund Korea to assist children facing difficulties in their lives.

The agency also commented, stating, “IUaena will continue to provide support this spring so that all children can receive love and grow into healthy adults.” Since 2015, IU has not only donated annually on Children’s Day to help underprivileged children but also on meaningful days such as year-end, debut anniversary, and during disasters, with a cumulative donation amounting to 5 billion Korean won (approximately 1.2 billion New Taiwan dollars / 3.68 million US dollars) so far.

As Children’s Day approached, actor Ahn Hyo-seop also donated 50 million Korean won (approximately 1.19 million New Taiwan dollars / 37,000 US dollars) to UNICEF to aid children globally. This donation was made in celebration of Children’s Day, with the hope that all children around the world can be happy. The funds contributed by Ahn Hyo-seop will be entirely used to support children worldwide who are unable to celebrate Children’s Day due to reasons like war, disasters, poverty, and illnesses.

ATEEZ member Hongjoong also made a donation of 50 million Korean won on Children’s Day. Their agency, KQ Entertainment, announced that ATEEZ’s Hongjoong donated 50 million Korean won to World Vision. This donation for Children’s Day aims to console and support teenagers caring directly for sick or disabled family members. The funds will be distributed to youth caregivers nationwide to be used for livelihood, medical, educational, and psychological counseling purposes.

On the 4th, actor Ko Min-si donated 50 million Korean won to Seoul Asan Hospital, wishing for the children’s happiness and healthy growth. Seoul Asan Hospital plans to utilize this donation for medical treatment expenses and surgical costs for child patients from vulnerable groups.

In addition, this year, Kim Go-eun, Park Bo-young, Han Ji-min, each donated 50 million Korean won (approximately 1.3 million New Taiwan dollars / 40,000 US dollars), while EXO member Park Chan-yeol, comedian Hong Hyun-hee, each donated 20 million Korean won (approximately 480,000 New Taiwan dollars / 15,000 US dollars). These various celebrities showing their kindness to help underprivileged children have a joyful Children’s Day.
