Israeli military retrieves bodies of five hostages from Gaza

On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that the Israeli army has recovered the bodies of five hostages on Wednesday. These five individuals were killed in an attack by Hamas on October 7 last year and their bodies have been held captive in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.

The Israeli Defense Forces declared on Thursday that the five bodies belonged to Maya Goren, Oren Goldin, Ravid Aryeh Katz, Staff Sergeant Tomer Ahimas, and Sergeant Kiril Brodski. The military has transported them back to Israel from the Khan Younis area in Gaza.

This rescue operation was conducted by the Israeli security agency and the Defense Forces on Wednesday. It was confirmed by the military that Maya Goren was murdered, while the other four died in combat. Goldin and Katz were members of a security team engaged in a battle with armed factions led by Hamas in border villages.

Israel stated that there are still 115 hostages in Gaza, with 41 already declared dead.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered a speech at the US Congress on the afternoon of July 24. He vowed to continue fighting against Hamas militants until achieving a “complete victory” and securing the release of over seventy remaining hostages held by Hamas.

He urged the United States and Israel to “stand together” in confronting Hamas and its backers. He stated, “Our enemies are your enemies. Our fight is your fight. Our victory is your victory.”
