Is it hard to remove price tags? Try this clever trick

Some price tags are difficult to remove and may leave residue on products like mugs, affecting their appearance. To address this issue, an influencer has shared a clever method to remove labels without leaving a trace, which you may want to try.

Liz Richards, a popular female influencer, frequently shares life hacks on Instagram and has amassed over 1.4 million followers to date.

Last month, she posted a short video demonstrating how to remove price tags from cups, garnering nearly 150,000 likes.

In the video, she shows how to remove a $5.99 label from a blue cup. She starts by placing a piece of transparent tape on the label and pressing it down. Then she heats the tape with a flame from a lighter for a moment before peeling it off, causing the label to come off completely along with the tape.

She wrote in the subtitles, “I wish I knew this method earlier.”

Many netizens have commented on this clever hack. Some expressed gratitude, some called it “genius,” while others suggested using a hairdryer for a similar effect by blowing for about 20 seconds. Someone said, “I usually apply olive oil on stickers before tossing them into the dishwasher, they peel off.”

Apart from the methods mentioned above, there are other ways to remove sticky labels like price tags without damaging the product itself. Better Homes and Gardens magazine in the United States listed several methods:

– **Hot Water**: Add a few drops of dish soap to hot water in a sink or container, then soak the item (if possible) until the residue softens, and scrape it off with a plastic scraper or your fingers.
– **Rubbing Alcohol or Vodka**: Rubbing alcohol is an effective solvent that is safe for most plastic, wood, and glass surfaces. Vodka is a good alternative. Dampen a paper towel or clean cloth with rubbing alcohol, then wipe the residue before removing it. For stubborn stickers, place a cloth soaked in alcohol over the area, let it sit for a few minutes to soften the residue, and then wipe it away.
– **Eraser**: Use an eraser to clear most surface residue from stickers. The rubber surface can roll away residue.
– **Peanut Butter**: Apply peanut butter on wood, glass, or plastic surfaces and let it sit until the sticker residue softens, then wipe it off with a clean cloth.
– **Distilled White Vinegar**: Soak a cloth or paper towel in vinegar, lay it on the sticky area of the sticker residue, let it soak for a few minutes to soften, and then remove it by wiping or scraping.
– **WD-40**: WD-40 is a lubricant or solvent with many household uses, including sticker removal. Spray this solution on the sticker, let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe off the residue with a cloth.
– **Coconut Oil and Baking Soda**: Mix two parts coconut oil with one part baking soda to form a paste, apply it to the sticker, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub with a damp cloth and wipe clean.
– **Mayonnaise**: Apply a thin layer of mayonnaise on the sticker residue, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. The acidity of mayonnaise helps break down the residue.
