Irish Puppy Runs 33 Kilometers After Getting Scared by Thunder

In Ireland, a little dog got scared by thunder and ran away from home. When people found him, he was 33 kilometers away. Fortunately, he had a chip for identification, and with the help of animal protection groups, he was able to reunite with his owner.

Leitrim Animal Welfare Center in Ireland recently posted on Instagram that on August 11, a Collie living in County Roscommon was frightened by thunder during a heavy thunderstorm and ran away, leaving everyone puzzled about his whereabouts.

The owner was very worried about him but couldn’t find him. Luckily, he had a collar on his neck and a chip was implanted in his body. When he was found in County Leitrim and reported to the center, they quickly checked his chip number and contacted his owner.

Surprisingly, he was located 33 kilometers away from home. Now, he is safe and happily reunited with his owner.

The center emphasized the importance of microchipping pets, stating that it provides a permanent way to identify your pet and ensures that you have a better chance of reuniting with them if they get lost.

“Let’s work together to protect the safety of our pets!”

In Canada, a cat missing for a year and also implanted with a microchip was recently found, enabling a reunion with its owner.

The New Brunswick SPCA in Oromocto area posted on Facebook on August 12 that a group of young people brought a stray cat to the association, where they had been feeding him for several months.

Upon scanning the cat, the staff found a microchip implanted in him, leading them to contact the owner through the provided phone number.

The cat named Birdie had run away from its owners in Ottawa, Ontario over a year ago, somehow traveling over 1,000 kilometers to its current location.

The association mentioned that a family was willing to give Birdie a ride back to Ottawa, making it possible for him to be reunited with his owners.

The association concluded by stating, “Microchips are useful… and this is the proof!”
