Apple’s new iPhone 16 series smartphones went on sale in Taiwan today (20th). Many Apple fans stayed up all night or arrived early in the morning to queue up at the first sales event, aiming to buy one of the four models starting at NT$29,900 (approximately $992 USD).

The iPhone 16 series includes four new models: the 6.1-inch iPhone 16, the 6.7-inch iPhone 16 Plus, the 6.3-inch iPhone 16 Pro, and the 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max. These new models have been upgraded both in software and hardware aspects, with adjustments to colors, thinner designs, the addition of a “camera button,” 8GB of memory as standard, periscopic telephoto lens, and the A18/A18 Pro chip.

In anticipation of the annual iPhone upgrade trend in Taiwan, major telecom operators including Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and FarEasTone all held iPhone 16 sales events today with various promotions to attract eager Apple fans to join the queues.

Apple has introduced five color options for both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, including Midnight Blue, Aquamarine Green, Pink, White, and Black. As for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, they are available in four color options this year: Desert Titanium Gold, Original Titanium Gold, White Titanium Gold, and Black Titanium Gold.

The new “Camera Control” button enhances the camera experience on the iPhone 16 series through software and hardware integration. This new feature includes a haptic switch for tactile feedback, a high-precision force sensor that supports light touch gestures, and a capacitive sensor for touch interaction.

Apple’s flagship product this year is the iPhone 16 series, along with major updates to Apple Watch and AirPods. Additionally, Apple has launched the new Apple Intelligence, which is an evolution of the previous Siri interface. The iPhone 16 emphasizes AI capabilities, although traditional Chinese users will have to wait until next year to experience these features.
