The “Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament”, co-organized by the Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association, will be held on June 15 to 16 this year. Over 170 teams and more than 4,000 dragon boat enthusiasts will compete fiercely under the Victoria Harbour skyline, vying for glory.

Tourism Board Director Cheng Dingyi stated that in conjunction with the festive activities, the Tourism Board has arranged two drone and sea fireworks performances during the Dragon Boat Festival and dragon boat races. Additionally, there will be a food street, photo spots, and limited-edition stores along the Tsim Sha Tsui East waterfront. Besides witnessing the thrilling dragon boat races during the day, both citizens and tourists can also enjoy a vibrant and colorful evening. Dragon Boat Association Chairman Zhong Zhi Le mentioned that this year’s “Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament” has attracted numerous strong teams globally and is believed to bring exciting competition for citizens and tourists.

The Tourism Board announced that this year’s “Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament” will take place along the Tsim Sha Tsui East waterfront for two consecutive days, featuring 17 events. Over 170 teams from 12 countries and regions will participate in the competition.

HKTV Channel 32 will broadcast live the semi-finals, finals, and award ceremonies of the two-day tournament. On the first day of the event, the Tourism Board will also hold a sea fireworks performance in the evening, adding a festive atmosphere to the whole city. Before the show, free ice cream will be distributed at the Wan Chai waterfront. Each person is limited to one cup, and the distribution will stop once the quantity runs out.

From June 8 to July 1, the Avenue of Stars will showcase the “LINE FRIENDS Hong Kong Summer Chill”, featuring installations of characters like BROWN, CONY, and SALLY in summer travel and dragon boat athlete outfits, becoming a popular spot for photo opportunities.

During the period from June 8 to 16, a series of cooling food and beverage stalls will also be set up on the Avenue of Stars, offering local specialty cooling drinks and desserts, including frozen craft beers, bottled Hong Kong-style milk tea, cold brew coffee, coconut desserts, winter melon snacks, and more. On the Dragon Boat Festival night, the Tourism Board will perform drone shows at the Wan Chai waterfront with a theme inspired by dragon boat festival celebrations, creating various dynamic patterns in the sky.
