Are you interested in buying an American town? A town in California is up for sale with a price tag of 6.6 million dollars. This small American town, owned by a single proprietor, is home to approximately 100 residents. The owner believes it’s time to pass on these properties to someone with a vision for the future.
Campo is a California town located in the southeast of San Diego County, now listed for sale and waiting for potential buyers.
Representing the owner, Joseph Barela from Top Gun Commercial Real Estate, told Nexstar media that over the years, many buyers have shown interest in purchasing this town.
He mentioned that even Hollywood filmmakers and skateboarding superstar Tony Hawk have expressed interest in the town.
Campo is currently listed at 6.6 million dollars, about an hour’s drive from San Diego and just about a mile from the Mexican border.
The properties for sale include 16 acres of land and 92,000 square feet of building property, equivalent to $71 per square foot.
According to the Orange County Register, almost all town properties have been listed for sale since 2019, with a price tag of 5.5 million dollars back then.
Reportedly, since the 21st century, most of the town’s land has been owned by Las Vegas investor John Ray.
This town was built during World War II to accommodate the only all-black U.S. Army cavalry regiment, the Buffalo Soldiers, in preparation for a potential invasion that never occurred.
Currently, the town has about 100 residents, all renting houses from Barela.
“The Border Patrol is leasing a commercial building there. There are also six other commercial tenants. There are 21 residential structures, 28 units,” Barela said.
Local residents hope the owner’s wishes come true and see the town revitalized while preserving its essence.
Michael Hoffner, a resident of Campo, stated, “It’s very beautiful here, much quieter than the city. You don’t feel the hustle and bustle. You can sleep peacefully and see the stars outside.”
Another local Tony Martinez added, “I love it here, along with the surrounding environment and wildlife.”
