A former special agent of the political security bureau of the Chinese Communist Party’s Ministry of Public Security has fled to Australia, exposing the CCP’s covert operations to hunt down dissenters overseas. This whistleblower disclosed more details about the CCP’s transnational persecution operations to Epoch Times, revealing his anti-CCP stance by stating, “My fundamental belief is against communism.”
In a previous episode of the ABC’s “Four Corners” program, a former CCP special agent using the alias Eric revealed his involvement in planning attempts to lure and abduct multiple dissidents overseas to bring them back to China. The program disclosed that Eric provided hundreds of documents to the media and Australian intelligence agencies to substantiate his revelations.
Regarding the planning and execution of abduction operations, Eric explained to Epoch Times on May 15:
“The system is hierarchical, but I don’t command other aspects, such as specific missions or targets. I collect information on the target individual or directly approach them online or offline. I am an executor in this regard. However, the entire plan is devised and planned in consultation with superiors. The hierarchy is relatively flat.”
He provided an example, mentioning that if Beijing wanted to apprehend “Chili Pepper” (Wang Liming, a cartoonist currently residing in the United States), “Chongqing dispatched someone to get close to ‘Chili Pepper,’ say they sent someone to me, then I am directly involved, and I coordinate with senior officials in Chongqing. It’s a two-level operation without many layers in between. Many communications are linear for confidentiality reasons.”
Eric revealed that the Ministry of State Security and the political security bureau of the Ministry of Public Security operate overseas with some overlap, causing confusion among outsiders about their interactions.
“We operate along two separate lines. Although these two entities have deep origins with each other, such as many backbone personnel transferred from the state security bureau, in these overseas operations, there may be cooperation and competition between them.”
The various identities and missions of CCP agents overseas are diverse. Eric confirmed that he could not possibly know about the assignments of other agents.
“Even in the same city, say both in Bangkok, I couldn’t possibly know which agents they deployed. I only know individuals in my network, for instance, someone in the cover company responsible for communication and providing objectives to me, and I’d recognize them as agents. Then there’s another individual providing resources like vehicles and funds, and I’d know they play a supporting role in logistics. I’d know these people collaborate in secret operations or are involved in them. I definitely couldn’t know about individuals in other networks; they are kept separate.”
Seeking freedom from CCP rule, Eric defected to Australia and exposed the CCP’s covert operations, sparking international outcry and intriguing many about his journey of turning against communism.
Eric emphasized to Epoch Times that his instinct is fundamentally anti-CCP.
“I’ve always been anti-CCP. Originally, I joined the China Social Democratic Party and was forcibly turned into working for the CCP after being arrested. My core has always been anti-CCP. It’s impossible that being forced to work for them would change my ideology, and I’ve attempted to escape twice before today. It’s just that they failed, and today counts as my third attempt, successfully escaping.”
Eric recounted his past escape attempts.
“I was studying in Thailand on a scholarship when they discovered I was missing and called me back to China. I had planned to wait until completing my studies to find an opportunity to escape. But due to an unexpected incident and a growing suspicion from Beijing—possibly due to my involvement in a sensitive issue like the ‘V-travel’ project attempting to approach Hua Yong as an excuse and becoming overly conspicuous—the trust in me began to wane. There was a possibility of being pursued by authorities even if the arrest warrant was revoked. So, I couldn’t afford to wait; I attempted to escape to Hong Kong. Some more secretive matters unknown to them—if they came knocking at my door later, it’d be all over. So, it was too risky to take the gamble; my only option was to leave.”
As a history enthusiast, Eric had an early understanding of the true nature of the CCP.
“I believe understanding the essence of the Chinese Communist Party isn’t difficult. I used to be interested in history, including World War II history, and I have a good grasp of the Nazis and the Nazi party’s system, followed by Stalin, the Soviet Communist Party, Lenin’s party. They are all fascist authoritarian parties, and the CCP evolved from the Soviet Communist Party. Based on common sense, including the historical movements and actions of the CCP and its history, anyone with a comprehensive information source and reasonably normal intelligence can discern the nature of the Communist Party – a fascist authoritarian regime.”
Recently, the CCP has intensified political brainwashing of students and requires “full immersion of the brain, heart, and soul,” leading to a surge in mainland China’s “Little Pink” nationalists.
Eric mentioned that, as Bacon once said, reading history enlightens minds, coupled with his natural resistance to authority, all played a role in shaping his life trajectory, indicating that breaking ties with the CCP was inevitable.
He deemed his arrival in Australia as destined, influenced by various circumstances during the complex process, especially amid the pandemic when surveillance of movements was widespread. The decision to come to Australia was ultimately decided by tossing a coin between Australia and New Zealand, and fate led him to Australia.
“I am quite fatalistic; everything is arranged by destiny, so I will follow the guidance of destiny.”
