Inner Mongolian Woman Beaten by Boss and Wife for Half an Hour over Unpaid Wages

Recently, a woman in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, posted a video claiming that she went to a Geli appliance distributor in Dongsheng District to ask the boss and his wife for the unpaid wages. As a result, she was violently beaten by the couple and was ultimately forced to sign a paper stating that the wages had been received before she was released. The video has sparked attention online.

On September 28th, the woman posted a video on social media in which she tearfully recounted that she was locked in the office and beaten by the boss and his wife for half an hour due to wage issues. After running out of the office, she cried out to her colleagues, “Could you hear me calling you? They just hit me, pulled my hair, and pressed me to the ground.” Although the video did not capture the individuals, the woman’s heart-wrenching cries were deeply distressing.

After the incident, the woman sought medical treatment at the hospital and shared multiple photos of her injuries. The images showed her nose with an oxygen tube inserted, visible swelling around her eyes, as well as bruises on her arms and legs.

According to a report by “Zhongan Online,” the woman stated that after being called into the office, her phone was left outside, making it impossible for her to call for help. She was only released after being forced to sign the paper stating that the wages had been received.

Following the exposure of the news, netizens reacted strongly, with many flooding the social media platforms of Inner Mongolia for tourism with demands to thoroughly investigate and punish the perpetrators. Comments ranged from “This is the underworld, illegal detention + violent coercion,” to “This is definitely a crime,” and “Punish without leniency,” with warnings not to go to Ordos, where such incidents reportedly happen frequently due to the malicious behavior of local bosses.

In response to the situation, the local police station in the jurisdiction area stated to “Red Star News” that the local authorities are handling the matter, with “the parties involved are being coordinated at the police station.” A person in charge at the police station also mentioned that whether the shop owner and his wife had assaulted the woman will require further investigation.

Netizens expressed anger over the situation, with comments such as, “What kind of coordination is this? Can crimes be coordinated? Maybe you can also coordinate after killing someone in the future.” Some questioned the prolonged investigation period of twenty days post-incident.

Furthermore, netizens revealed that the involved establishment was the Shengshi Geli appliance distributor in Dongsheng District, indicating that the couple had allegedly used violence to threaten employees and withhold wages multiple times.

However, according to online sources, “Zhongan Online’s video had garnered over a hundred thousand likes and tens of thousands of comments before it was taken down.” Additionally, it was mentioned that “the police have closed the comments section.”
