Hunter Biden gun case to be sentenced one week after the election.

In the latest update from a federal judge in Delaware, USA, it has been confirmed that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, will be sentenced on November 13, just one week after the 2024 presidential election concludes. This comes after a jury in the Wilmington area of the United States convicted Hunter Biden of three criminal charges in June this year, related to the illegal purchase and possession of a handgun during his drug use in 2018.

The sentencing responsibility falls on Maryellen Noreika, the federal judge in charge, who has stated that Hunter Biden’s tax-related charges will be tried in California in September, with the sentencing for this case scheduled for November. The sentencing date has been set for November 13th at 10 a.m. at the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building in Wilmington, Delaware.

There is a possibility that Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $750,000. However, given his status as a first-time and non-violent offender, judges typically lean towards more lenient sentencing under federal sentencing guidelines. It remains unclear whether the judge will choose to impose a prison sentence in this case.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed David Weiss as the special prosecutor to investigate Hunter Biden in August 2023. Weiss’s role involves overseeing the investigation and potentially bringing charges against him when deemed necessary.

On July 18, Hunter Biden requested that the judges presiding over his cases in Delaware and Los Angeles dismiss the charges of illegal possession of a firearm and tax evasion against him. He referenced a ruling by Florida Judge Aileen Cannon that dismissed the case concerning Trump’s confidential documents, claiming that the appointment of the special prosecutor investigating him was also unlawfully made.

Despite President Biden’s repeated assurances that he would not intervene using presidential powers to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, he has reiterated this stance during the G7 summit held in Italy in June. The president reaffirmed his commitment not to grant clemency to Hunter Biden for federal gun charges.

In September of this year, Hunter Biden will also face another criminal trial at the federal court in Los Angeles. The charges against him involve nine counts related to his alleged failure to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes over several years.
