The 26th Taipei Film Festival, also known as Taipei Film Awards (shortened as “Beiying”), is set to kick off this Saturday on the 22nd. Today, on the 17th, the hosts for the Taipei Film Awards ceremony on July 6th were announced to be Lin Hexuan (Da He) and Bai Bai once again, with six sets of presenters also revealed.
Da He expressed surprise and delight about co-hosting again, stating, “I never expected to host for two consecutive editions. I hope this time around, I can be more relaxed and truly enjoy the stage.” Bai Bai added, “No matter how many times, I will give it my all to ensure everyone enjoys the ceremony. I’ll do my best!”
Talking about the surprises prepared for the ceremony, Bai Bai jokingly said, “I’ve been hit by the trophy, fallen down, gone through embarrassing moments, so it’s time to showcase our abilities and talents! Please rest assured, there will be plenty of humor and surprises!”
Da He also teased, having magically produced a pigeon at last year’s ceremony, this year he plans to make an even bigger one, saying, “As for what it will be, everyone can look forward to it.”
The awards ceremony of this edition will take place at 7:00 pm on July 6th at Zhongshan Hall. Apart from the previous year’s Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners, Lu Xiaofen and Yang Liyin, who will jointly announce this year’s Best Actress, the Best Actor will also be presented by last year’s Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor winners, Wang Bojie and Fu Mengbai.
The ambassador of this year’s film festival, Lin Baihong, will join forces with the elder sister from “Sally,” Liu Pinyan, an actress nominated for the Best Actress award this year, to unveil the winners of Best New Performer and Best Short Film.
In addition, the Best Actor winner of the 22nd Taipei Film Awards, Mo Ziyi, will reunite with his partner from the winning work “Dear Tenant,” Yao Chunyao, to jointly present the Best Supporting Actress and Best Sound Design awards.
This year, double-nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, Li Mingzhong, will appear together for the first time on stage with his older brother, Li Mingshun, to announce the winners of Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects.
The winner of the 11th Taipei Film Awards for Best Actress, Zhang Rongrong, will join hands with her co-star from the new film “Master of Ghosts,” Yao Yiti, who is also the winner of the Best Supporting Actress at the 22nd Taipei Film Awards, to jointly announce the winners of Best Original Score and Best Supporting Actor.
The chairman of the selection jury for the 26th Taipei Film Awards is Hong Kong director Chen Guo, who will lead a panel consisting of experienced Hong Kong editor Li Dongquan and eleven re-selection judges, including Wang Gengyu (director), Wu Jinrong (screenwriter), Li Yaohua (producer), Li Mingjie (composer/sound designer), Lin Junyang (director), Yao Yiti (actress), Xu Weining (actress), Chen Ruoyu (art director), Lu Yingliang (director), Cai Xusheng (director), and Fu Tianyu (director).
In addition, there are two informal competition awards: the “Audience Choice Award,” selected by the audience from all nominated works, and the “Media Recommendation Award,” selected by a panel of professional journalists.
The 2024 Taipei Film Festival will take place from June 21st to July 6th at venues including Zhongshan Hall in Taipei, Xinyi Vieshow Cinemas, and Spot Huashan Cinema. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on channel 12 of CTV, as well as on various OTT platforms such as MOD, Hami Video, Four Seasons Online, Gt TV, LiTV, ofiii, and Fain TV, along with simultaneous broadcasts on Dish TV’s CTV Americas channel and Eastern America STAR TV. The official FB and YT channels of the Taipei Film Festival, as well as “LINE TODAY Movies,” will also simulcast the event.
