On September 20, the day the phone was released, a blogger from Northeast China posted a video holding a red top-of-the-line Mate XT phone originally priced at 23,999 yuan from the official website. After inquiring with four scalpers, only one was willing to buy it back for 30,000 yuan, an increase of 6,000 yuan.
A digital blogger in Shenzhen revealed the scalper price of Mate XT at Huaqiangbei, showing that from the 21st to the 22nd, the scalper price of this Huawei phone dropped by over 4,000 yuan.
The reasons for the “collapse” of the scalper price of the Huawei Mate XT folding screen phone, as reported by “Sanyan Technology,” are primarily twofold.
Firstly, general consumers have not fully embraced the concept of a folding screen smartphone, or it may not have a broad target audience. For the average user, there isn’t a significant demand for a folding screen phone in their daily lives.
Secondly, the price is simply not consumer-friendly. Even at the official starting price of 20,000 yuan, it is still far from affordable for most consumers. “Sanyan Technology” mentioned that the faster the scalper price collapses, the more rational consumers are becoming.
