“Huang Zijiao case: ‘Deferred Prosecution Reversed’ North Prosecutors’ Office Files Charges According to Law”

Entertainment personality Huang Zijiao was recently charged with forced indecency in the MeToo scandal, but he was not prosecuted. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office found 7 child sexual images in Huang Zijiao’s possession during a search and he was placed on a 2-year probation under the Child and Juvenile Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act in April. The High Prosecutors Office ordered the continued investigation by the Taipei District Prosecutors Office. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office concluded the investigation today (17th) and decided to prosecute Huang Zijiao according to the law.

Initially, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office took into account Huang Zijiao’s admission of guilt, sincere regret, voluntary surrender of the files for destruction without dissemination or sale, and determined that the crime was not of a serious nature. Therefore, Huang Zijiao was placed on a 2-year probation, with the condition of paying a fine of 1.2 million New Taiwan Dollars to the national treasury and submitting a written confession within 3 months after the probation was confirmed.

However, the decision to grant probation to Huang Zijiao has sparked public outcry, with criticisms that the punishment was too lenient. After the case was reviewed by the High Prosecutors Office, it was deemed that there were deficiencies in the initial investigation, and on the 19th of the same month, it was sent back to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further investigation. Following a re-examination by the prosecutors, a decision was made today to file charges under the Child and Juvenile Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act.

Last year, Huang Zijiao was exposed for allegedly enticing people to take nude photos. The following day, he released a video apology, which also revealed the involvement of six other artists, including the Da S, Xiao S, Josh, Amber Kuo, and Aya, in drug-related issues. In response to this, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office launched separate investigations. Following the investigation, it was found that drug-related substances were detected in the hair and urine samples of Da S, Xiao S, and Amber Kuo, but it matched their prescription medications. Josh tested negative, while Amber Kuo and Jimmy were abroad for a long time. Huang Zijiao also claimed that he had not seen the two using drugs, making it difficult to prove illegal drug use. As a result, the case was closed due to the lack of concrete evidence of a crime.

In response to this, Da S expressed her gratitude through her agent: “Thank you to the prosecutors for clearing our names! The facts have proven that there was no illegal drug abuse involved.”
