Huang Chieh-yi Hosts Fundraising Event, Voters Praise Her Excellence and Trustworthiness.

Fremont City Councilmember Teresa Keng held a small fundraising event on the evening of May 20th in preparation for her re-election campaign in November. The event garnered support from representatives of voters and officials.

Among the officials who showed support were Fremont Mayor Lily Mei, Councilmembers Raj Salwan and Desrie Campbell, former Union City Mayor Mark Green, and Bay Area community leader Zhou Xinjie.

The Indian group Americans4Hindus (A4H), dedicated to advocating for the rights of Indian-American citizens, endorsed Keng at the event, stating, “Councilmember Teresa Keng has made outstanding contributions to building a community that is inclusive, diverse, and fair. She listens attentively to the voices of the people, opposes prejudice or discrimination, and is a trustworthy official who positively impacts the community.”

During her speech, Keng addressed community safety issues, stating, “In the face of rising crime rates and the need for community policing, I hope to address these complex issues through meaningful dialogue and problem-solving approaches. By investing in community policing infrastructure and expanding mental health therapy, we can address crime at its roots and make Fremont one of the safest cities in the Bay Area. We are not only working for ourselves but creating this environment for future generations.”

When asked about affordable housing issues, Keng mentioned, “We are continuously applying for building permits, seeking funding to construct rental apartments for low-income families. Economic housing is currently under construction across the street, making it convenient for low-income families with children to attend school and parents to work in the city, reducing their commuting time. We hope to have more affordable housing options to assist everyone.”

Chinese-American Mayor Lily Mei praised Keng for her dedication to community service, commenting, “I admire Teresa Keng’s spirit of service to the community. As a mother, she pays attention to diversity in education from a parental perspective and as a councilmember, she advocates for fair education for children and assists those with special needs.”

Mayor Mei added, “In the past few years, Fremont, like other cities, has faced challenges such as the pandemic, economy, public safety, homelessness, and more. Many council members including Teresa Keng have worked together to support each other and tackle many difficulties. The city’s economic vitality depends on the integration of small businesses and community diversity. Facing future challenges, we will work hard to build for a prosperous development, so please continue supporting us and Teresa Keng!”

Indian-American voter Ritu Maheshwari, in an interview with the Epoch Times, said, “Teresa Keng is an outstanding official in my district committed to providing better community services. She actively participates in events for the Indian community, and whenever we need her, she is there!”

Chinese-American voter Tony Chen praised Keng for always being great and offering a helping hand whenever needed, whether for fair education, small business owners, or anyone in the community.

At the conclusion of the event, voters and Teresa Keng posed for a group photo and cheered, “Four more years!” in support of her re-election campaign.
